In the forest beside Pashupatinath is the ashram where Shivapuri Baba, a widely respected saint, lived and meditated. A quiet place most visitors never see. Inside, we sit in silence.

I grew up nearby and have meditated since I was a child. For the last 7 years I have taught meditation, first with Nordstadt Meditiert in Dortmund, Germany, and now with Kathmandu Meditates.

Your morning

1. Meet in Tilganga. Near the golf course, outside the Pashupatinath temple grounds. We start early.
2. Breathwork under the trees. A gentle guided practice outdoors that helps you arrive.
3. Silence at the ashram. About 30 minutes of sitting in silence. Speaking is not allowed inside, and I explain everything beforehand.
4. A walk around Pashupatinath. On public paths near Pashupatinath. Along the Bagmati river we watch the morning rituals while I share what they mean.
5. Tea and conversation. To close, unhurried.
